Hong Kong to see 9.6m visitors as tourism rebounds in second half: Tourism Board

Hong Kong’s tourism will be able to strongly rebound in the second half of 2022, bringing some 9.6 million travelers to the city this year, Tourism Board predicts. 

However, the projected number would only make up around 20 percent of visitor arrivals back in 2019, according to official statistics.

The board previously announced that Hong Kong received 91,000 visitors last year, a 97.4 percent drop year-on-year. 

It said the outlook continues to be exceptionally uncertain amid immense uncertainties over the pandemic and anti-epidemic measures around the globe.

Meanwhile, the board said it will re-launch the Free Tour and Staycation Delights programs soon after the local outbreak subsides, providing support to the tourism and hotel industry and stimulating the local economy.

It will also attract more exhibitions to the city to further develop Hong Kong into a premier convention and exhibition center - both internationally and in the Greater Bay Area.

The board will also hold large-scale events to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR.
