Crowd gathers outside Sogo to mourn attacker

Crowd gathered in Causeway Bay to mourn attacker who killed himself after wounding a police officer last night.

Citizens in black shirts have arrived at the scene since this afternoon. They brought white flowers, joss sticks and candles and paid tribute to Leung Kin-fai, the attacker who stabbed the back of a police officer.

A great number of police were mobilized to the area. Officers in tactical vests patrolled the area in groups and stopped and searched citizens nearby. They also ordered crowds to leave, warning their gathering was in breach of the law.

Officers around 7pm arrested a man in Causeway Bay after they found him possessing a cutter and a utility knife.

Police also pointed out that a rioter threw glass bottle from height near Percival Street in Causeway Bay around 5pm. No one was hurt in the incident.

Another man was arrested for obstructing police officers around the same time.

Officers condemned such behaviours pose risk to the safety of the public. They also said they will continue to search suspicious individuals and vehicles.
