Chao Kuang-piu, the founder of Dragonair passed away in the early hours today at the age of 101.
Chao was born in Shanghai in 1920. He is one of Hong Kong's most renowned industrialists, and is the main founder of Dragonair, the first Chinese-owned airline in Hong Kong.
He was also known as the "King of Cotton Yarn" given his success in the textile industry.
Chao was a former member of the Hong Kong Consultative & Selection Committee, Chairman of the Board of Novel Enterprises, Honorary Chairman of Dragonair, and former Honorary Consul of the Republic of Mauritius in Hong Kong.
