Student suspended for having political slogans in his online bio

Heung To Middle School had suspended a secondary four student from school for one week for including political slogans in his bio on an online communication software, said a concern group.

A Heung To Middle School concern group posted online saying that the secondary four student was summoned back to school by the headmaster and discipline master yesterday.

The student was reprimanded for including political slogans in his bio of his Microsoft Team, an online communication software.

The school took disciplinary actions against the student by suspending him for one week from school, and will record two demerits for the student if the student is to retain his student status.

The group also quoted from the student that the headmaster said it is best to expel the student, claiming the incident has affected the school’s reputation.

The group also stressed that the school has constantly warned students not to participate in social movements, or else will face consequences.

Students at Heung To Middle School previously staged a protest on June 12, in support of their music teacher Novem Lee Kwan-pui, who lost her job allegedly due to political differences with the school.
