A 23-year-old man who is the first person prosecuted for violating the national security law for Hong Kong had filed a writ of habeas corpus to obtain the bail rights under the law at the High Court yesterday.
The hearing, scheduled at 2:30pm tomorrow, will be handled by Justice Anderson Chow Ka-ming and is expected to last for an hour.
Tong Ying-kit is facing a count of incitement to secession and terrorist activities. He is alleged of crashing a motorbike into a group of police officers in Wan Chai during protests on July 1 and bearing a flag which said “Liberate Hong Kong, Revolution Of Our Times.”
He had been remanded in custody after appearing at the West Kowloon Magistrates' Court last month and the case was adjourned until October 6.
