KFC Hong Kong has introduced a burger and nuggets featuring plant-based meat at select outlets from today, following a successful trial run in the United States.

The New Era Nuggets and the New Era Burger will feed the appetite for plant-based meats and are available after 11:00am.

To mark the occasion, KFC Hong Kong is partnering with international lifestyle brand New Era to launch a special edition 9FIFTY snapback cap, featuring the KFC founder Colonel Sanders

The New Era Nuggets, served with barbecue sauce, is a green spin on the original chicken nugget and is made with plant-based ingredients. Each set contains 12 grams of non-GMO, plant-based protein. The nuggets are fried to a bouncy texture and crispy, golden exterior.

Five-pieces, à la carte, is priced at HK$29, while HK$35 added for KFC Home Delivery.

The New Era Burger (à la carte HK$49) includes a plant-based patty, made with soy, wheat, pea protein, organic grains and vegetables. The burger boasts a similar texture and flavor profile as its meat-based counterpart, KFC Hogn Kong says.

The patties are baked to an aromatic and toasty golden brown. Together with Italian focaccia, sliced cheese, salad dressing, BBQ sauce, lettuce and tomatoes as well as a special ingredient – tortilla chips, for its satisfying crunch – the New Era Burger provides a layered texture and taste experience, while balancing juiciness and crispiness.

To literally cap off the experience, the burger is served in an innovative packaging that mimics New Era’s trendy snapback design.

KFC arrived in Hong Kong in 1985 and has been managed by Birdland (Hong Kong) Limited since 1997. KFC in Hong Kong operates more than 80 stores and serves millions every month.

KFC Original Recipe, Hot & Spicy, BBQ Honey Wings, Zinger Burger, Mushroom Rice and Egg Tart are among the most popular offerings with Hong Kong customers.

Headquartered in Buffalo, new York, the New Era Cap Co., Inc. is celebrating its centennial and its legacy is steeped in sports heritage and pop culture through partnerships and collections with some of the top leagues, athletes, designers, artists, and icons.
