Hospital Authority is investigating the blood donation controversy at auxiliary police headquarters, according to Red Cross.
Police called off a blood donation drive in Kowloon Bay last Tuesday after a Red Cross staff member wore accessories deemed offensive to officers.
The staffer was seen wearing accessories with words such as "Corrupt cops, may your whole family die" and "Against police brutality" as the Red Cross Mobile Donation Service set up a pop-up center at the Hong Kong Auxiliary Police Headquarters.
About 100 officers taking part in the blood donation, including those from the auxiliary police, Police Tactical Unit and Regional Response Contingent, brought the event to a halt on Tuesday after a Red Cross director refused to provide the name of the employee upon request.
In a statement uploaded to Facebook, Red Corss said it is keeping in touch with the authority, which promises to offer details of the case to the public as soon as possible.
“We believe blood donation, like any other humanitarian acts, aims to help the others and reduce pain. We hope everyone can continue such charitable acts, including blood donation, so that Hong Kong can be a city filled of love and mutual assistance,” it stated.
