Pro-establishment lawmaker Junius Ho Kwan-yiu said Radio Television Hong Kong should be a "government mouthpiece" and serve the government.

He was speaking at a debate on the Appropriation Bill 2020 at the Legislative Council today.

Ho said RTHK should not be attacking the government while receiving government funding and suggested merging the public broadcaster with the Information Services Department.

He also questioned whether RTHK had bought "likes" on social media as it had a budget of nearly HK$1 billion.

Ho said his Facebook page has 110,000 "likes" and 160,000 followers, and that several videos received 100,000 clicks without any cost, but RTHK has only 10,000 followers.

According to information on RTHK's Facebook page, it has more than 250,000 "likes" and 260,000 followers.
