Citizens overwhelm vaccination outreach at Lok Fu shopping mall after rice offer

All quota for citizens to get vaccinated at Lok Fu Plaza was gone in an hour as the Link offers a free pack of rice for participants. 

An outreach vaccination team administered BioNTech vaccines for more than 100 Link Reit staff at Lok Fu Plaza this morning. Another 80 quotas for the public were distributed from 8.30am onwards, with a 1kg of Golden Phoenix rice given out to each participant. 

Thanks to the rice, the response has been more enthusiastic than expected. 

Some people was disappointed after they found the quota was full. Others criticized that the number of quotas was not enough.

An elderly man who went said that he didn't know how to register online to receive a vaccination nor how to get same-day tickets to get vaccinated at community vaccination centers. He got to know about the outbreach program at the mall, and thought it would be an easier option. 

He was disappointed to find that tickets ran out, saying that he hopes the mall to increase the quota.

The staff later distributed another 80 tickets for the public to get vaccinated at a community vaccination center on Boundary Street later in the afternoon. A shuttle will be arranged to send them to the scene.
