Cantopop singer and actor Nicholas Tse Ting-fung may perform with his 88-year-old actor father Patrick Tse-yin in his first solo concert in 25 years, set to be held in the brand-new 50,000-seat main stadium of the Kai Tak Sports Park.
Nicholas Tse will put on three concerts from April 24 to 26 at Kai Tak Stadium, becoming the first Hong Kong musician to perform solo at the newly-opened venue. Tickets for the concerts were sold out within 30 minutes.
Sing Tao Daily, the sister newspaper of The Standard, reported that Emperor Entertainment Group, the company which manages Tse, has considered putting on a father-and-son performance, but it would hinge on the elder Tse’s health condition.
Patrick Tse, a veteran Hong Kong actor who made his name in the 90s, has raised health concerns among fans, as he made very few public appearances after winning best actor at Hong Kong Film Awards in 2022.
He was recently seen in a Tsim Sha Tsui cafe with his friends and assistants, according to an exclusive report of Sing Tao Daily. He had a few coughs during the meal and had a walking stick with him at all times.
While it is unsure whether the father-and-son duo will appear in the Kai Tak concert, Tse will likely be there to support his son, and that he is excited and looking forward to the performances, according to Sing Tao.
