Football fans are in for a treat as World Cup winner champion and former Manchester United star Raphael Varane will be a special guest at
the HKFC Standard Chartered Soccer Sevens, scheduled fromMay 16 to 18 at the Hong Kong Football Club.
The legendary former France and Read Madrid defender will help kick off festivities at The Sportsman's Dinner on May 15, where he will appear alongside iconic former Liverpool player and manager Graeme Souness, the evening's guest speaker.
Varane will also make a special appearance at the tournament pitch side on May 18, where fans can catch him in action during an Exhibition Penalty Shoot-out, and meet-and-greet session at the PUMA booth, thanks to tournament sponsor PUMA.
Varane won the World Cup with France in 2018 and tasted Champions League success on four occasions – in 2014, 2016, 2017, and 2018 – during a trophy-laden 10-season spell with Madrid, where he also won three La Liga titles.
He moved to the English Premier League in 2021, joining United for a three-year campaign capped by the 2024 FA Cup final triumph over Manchester City at Wembley.
This year's Soccer Sevens will feature young talent from clubs including Brighton, Aston Villa, West Ham, Leicester City, and newcomers AZ Alkmaar, Western United, Larne FC and Macau FA, plus an expanded Women;s Tournament and the return of the popular Masters competition.
