Ip gets first look at airport progress

Executive Council convenor and lawmaker Regina Ip Lau Suk-yee was excited to step on the third runway at the Hong Kong International Airport.

Alongside five other New People's Party lawmakers, Ip got to see the runway's latest progress.

On social media, Ip said they first went to the Airport Authority Building observation deck, overlooking the airport's south runway, middle runway and newly-built third runway.

She then visited the apron to watch the operation of autonomous vehicles. Airport Authority chief executive Fred Lam Tin-fuk said the airport now has 50 autonomous vehicles, the most of any airport worldwide. The last stop of the tour was the third runway's construction site.

Ip was impressed by the airport's use of technology to enhance operational efficiency and its dedication to staff welfare.
