Going batty over a new bridge

Signs of Batman were seen when purple lights appeared on the soon-to-open Cross Bay Link in Tseung Kwan O. But it was something more prosaic than a Bat signal, simply a trial run of lighting features on the 1.8-kilometer span.

But the sight of lights plus active imaginations saw interesting pictures being posted.

Several people also agreed online that the bridge scene was reminiscent of the movie Batman. To support that line they posted doctored photos including the Bat symbol in the clouds and the Caped Crusader leaping across the skyline.

"Gotham City?" one person mused. "Calling Batman," said another.

Construction of the link should be completed before this year is out, opening a dual two-lane route plus a cycle track and footpath across Junk Bay. The link will connect the Tseung Kwan O-Lam Tin Tunnel to Wan Po Road in Area 86 - central to that is a junk-created hill - along with Lohas Park and Tseung Kwan O Industrial Estate.

And the Batmobile won't be in the traffic.
