Shek Mun On Sum Street site to be tendered this quarter, offering 960 flats

The Hong Kong government announced on Thursday that a residential site at On Sum Street in Shek Mun, Sha Tin, will be put up for tender this quarter, with unit supply in the first three quarters of this fiscal year exceeding the full-year target.

Development Bureau Secretary Bernadette Linn Hon-ho said the site, located near the Shek Mun MTR Station, has recently been rezoned for residential use and is expected to offer 960 units.

Together with 1,050 units from the Urban Renewal Authority’s To Kwa Wan Road project and 1,835 units from private redevelopment projects, total units supply for the new quarter is projected to reach 3,845 units.

The supply of units in the first three quarters of this fiscal year is expected to reach 15,680 units, exceeding the full-year target by 24 percent, according to Linn.

Meanwhile, Linn noted that the government will release a site in Siu Lek Yuen, Sha Tin, also close to the City One Station, for the student accommodation, which is expected to provide around 600 beds, and two more plots of land for student housing will be released depending on market conditions.

Regarding the Fanling north new development area, Linn pointed out that a rezoning proposal was submitted to the Town Planning Board recently, which includes increasing the residential land area from 2,000 units to 4,000 units.
