People saw their shadows directly under them yesterday at noon when the sun was directly overhead.The sun was also directly overhead on Monday at the same clock.
Lam Chiu-ying, former director of the Hong Kong Observatory, posted two photos on his Facebook yesterday, showing a lamppost with no shadow under it at around 12.29pm.

The phenomenon will appear in Hong Kong twice a year, usually in the middle of June or July, when vertical objects will have no shadow, as the city is located between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn, said the Observatory.
"However, people can still see their shadows right under them because they are not as thin as a pole," the Observatory wrote on Facebook yesterday.
