Music, neighbourhood discoveries and family fun offer plenty of reasons to plan an autumn escape to Macao this October. The 38th Macao International Music Festival sets the cultural pace, while San Kio’s traditional streets and a temple-inspired creative market invite visitors to explore local life and heritage. Families can enjoy playful encounters with Mak Mak and Mr. Bubbles, and Camqing Fair offers outdoor inspiration in Macao and neighbouring Hengqin. From concert halls to neighbourhood markets, there is plenty to fill a leisurely weekend of discovery.

An evening of live music makes a fitting centrepiece for an autumn getaway. Themed “Silk Resonances”, the 38th Macao International Music Festival draws inspiration from the Maritime Silk Road, bringing Eastern and Western traditions together through a programme that complements a day exploring the city.
October highlights include Laurence Cummings and Macao Orchestra at the Cathedral on 24 October, followed by Lang Lang in Recital: Iberian Rhapsody at the Macao Cultural Centre on 25 October. Opera lovers can experience Puccini’s Turandot on 31 October and 1 November, while Bravo Macao! showcases emerging local talent on 31 October.
The music also reaches beyond the concert halls. Through community performances, street percussion and other activities, “Floating Notes Across the City” brings music into local neighbourhoods, inviting visitors to encounter it as they explore.
