Andy Lau to receive honorary doctorate from HKBU

Hong Kong superstar Andy Lau Tak-wah will receive an honorary doctorate from Hong Kong Baptist University next Monday (Aug 10) in recognition of his outstanding professional achievements and contributions to society.

HKBU said Lau will receive the honorary doctoral degree at a conferment ceremony before taking part in a sharing session with students and staff.

The session will be moderated by acclaimed filmmaker Ann Hui On-wah, who received an honorary Doctor of Letters from the university in 2023.

The university described Lau as one of Hong Kong's most respected cultural figures, saying his decades-long career has made a profound impact on the city's entertainment industry and cultural landscape.

The honorary doctorate will be Lau's second. He received an honorary Doctor of Literature from Hong Kong Shue Yan University in 2017.
