Casa Hotel in Yau Ma Tei closes after years of service, 162 rooms bid farewell

The boutique hotel Casa Hotel on Nathan Road in Yau Ma Tei officially ceased operations on Sunday, as the wave of closures continues to hit Hong Kong's retail and dining sectors.

A notice posted outside the hotel thanked customers for their support and announced the closure effective May 31, without providing specific reasons. Netizens expressed regret and concern over the current market conditions.木

The property, a 14-storey commercial-residential building over 40 years old, was formerly known as Shing Hing House. It has a total gross floor area of about 37,228 square feet and offered 162 rooms. The current owner, a local investor, purchased the building for HK$159 million in 2007 and converted it into Casa Hotel.

The hotel was last put up for sale in September last year with a market valuation of about HK$450 million, down nearly 44 percent from an asking price of about HK$800 million in 2021.
