Teenage girl rescued after floating in sea off Tsim Sha Tsui for over an hour

A 17-year-old girl was rescued from the sea off the Avenue of Stars in Tsim Sha Tsui early on Wednesday after reportedly being in the water for more than an hour.

A passer-by spotted the girl floating near the Tsim Sha Tsui East bus terminus around 1am and raised the alarm. Firefighters and marine police arrived quickly, pulling the girl from the water not far from shore. She was conscious and cooperative, and was taken by ambulance to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for examination.

Police found personal belongings on the shore. CCTV footage later revealed the girl had entered the water at the same location about an hour before the rescue call.
