Man, 23, arrested for suspected arson at Nam Shan Estate community centre

A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of setting fire to the back door of a community centre in Nam Shan Estate, Shek Kip Mei, police said.

Staff at the centre on Tai Hang Tung Road reported burn marks on the back door around 9.40am on Monday. Fire services attended and deemed the cause suspicious. The case was classified as arson. No injuries were reported and no evacuation was required.

Following further investigation, officers from the Sham Shui Po district criminal investigation team arrested the man, surnamed Ho, at a flat in Nam Wai House within the same estate on Monday evening. He is being detained for questioning.
