Ronny Johnsen — a former player of Manchester United of the Premier League — visited Bishop Ford Memorial School on Monday, captivating more than 200 students and teachers as part of the Hong Kong Jockey Club’s JC School Football Development Scheme.

The ex-Red Devils defender took time to coach pupils and participate in a 5-a-side football match. Students eagerly lined up for autographs and photos with the football legend after the game.
Expressing his delight at the students’ enthusiasm, Johnsen encouraged young players to stay passionate and work hard, emphasizing the importance of persistence both on and off the pitch. He also praised the partnership between Manchester United and HKJC, highlighting its positive impact on youth football development.
During the event, Primary Five student Ling was named the star player by Johnsen, who also attended the JC School Football Development Scheme Challenge Cup 2026 over the weekend.
The Scheme, running since 2013, has trained over 8,800 teachers, coaches, students, and parents, further strengthening grassroots football in Hong Kong.
