The number of data breach incidents reported to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data (PCPD) rose by 21 percent to 246 last year, Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data Ada Chung Lai-ling said on Tuesday.
Speaking at a review of the PCPD's work, Chung noted the figure was up from 203 cases logged in 2024.
Chung stated that 81 of last year's data breach incidents involved hacker intrusions, marking a 33 percent year-on-year rise.
Meanwhile, she noted that the situation regarding illegal doxxing has significantly improved.
In 2025, the PCPD identified just nine cases of doxxing through its online inspections, a drop of more than 99 percent from the 1,134 cases identified in 2022.
