Police arrested six men during a three-day crackdown on drunk, drugged, and speeding drivers in New Territories South.
The operation from January 30 to February 1 involved setting up roadblocks on major thoroughfares, patrolling bar districts, and conducting speed enforcement. Officers stopped suspicious vehicles and administered breathalyzer tests.
The six local men arrested, aged 27 to 54, were detained on suspicion of offences including "drink driving," "failing to provide a breath specimen for a breath test," "failing to provide an oral fluid sample for a rapid oral fluid test," "driving while disqualified," and "driving without third-party insurance." A 41-year-old among them was also found to be a wanted person.
Police also detected 108 vehicles suspected of speeding and will issue tickets. Eight private cars suspected of illegal modification, potentially breaching road traffic regulations, were towed to a vehicle detention centre for inspection. Three defective vehicle reports were issued.
Police warned that drugged driving, drunk driving, and speeding are serious offences carrying fines, disqualification, and potential imprisonment. They vowed to continue enforcement across all districts.
