The government announced on Tuesday that the Tung Chung Area 122 (TC122), a residential site, was handed over to the Housing Society (HKHS) for the development of subsidized sale flats (SSFs), with a preliminary estimation to provide approximately 1600 SSFs from 2031 to 2032.
Originally earmarked for tender under the Private Subsidised Sale Flat—Pilot Scheme, the site will now advance under the Housing Society's management.
A Housing Bureau spokesman explained that development plans for various land uses are adjusted flexibly according to societal needs and current conditions.
The Housing Society, a longstanding government partner with extensive experience in subsidized sale flats, was chosen to accelerate progress at the site.
The bureau also pointed out that the handover of TC122 is in line with its aim to boost SSF supply, helping grassroots households achieve home ownership and encouraging upward mobility.
The government said it is now monitoring the market closely with a view to assessing whether adjustments need to be made to the scheme’s parameters or to future tender arrangements.
Further announcements will be made in due course.
