Nearly three weeks after the deadly fire at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po, the estate’s owners’ corporation has postponed a scheduled management committee meeting, citing an unexpectedly high level of interest from residents.
The meeting, originally set for 7.30pm on Wednesday at the Tai Wo Neighbourhood Community Centre, was intended to address key post-fire issues affecting the estate.
Agenda items included updates on the fire safety system prior to the blaze, progress on insurance claims, the estate’s financial situation, the handling of major renovation contractors and consultancy firms, and arrangements for an extraordinary general meeting.
Due to limited seating at the venue, the owners’ corporation had planned to livestream the meeting on Facebook for residents unable to attend in person.
However, in a notice issued on Monday (Dec 15), the owners’ corporation announced that the meeting would be postponed because of overwhelming demand from residents wishing to attend physically. It also noted concerns over venue capacity possibly affecting the smooth conduct of the meeting.
The corporation apologized for the inconvenience and said further details would be announced in due course.
Some residents, meanwhile, raised concerns about difficulties accessing the owners’ corporation’s social media page for the planned livestream.
It was later clarified that residents would have needed to verify their identity to access the private Facebook group stream, although it remains unclear whether the same arrangement will apply when the meeting is rescheduled.
