Resale of thank-you cards distributed by the government to voters who have cast their ballots has emerged on the popular online second-hand auction platform Carousell, with listings priced between HK$10 to HK$90.
Many posts on the platform feature prices around HK$50, with sellers stating that they are willing to conduct face-to-face transactions.
These posts also highlight the cards as having “great collectible values” and being “suitable for gifting”, while some offer multiple cards for sale.
Several merchants have earlier offered discounts to voters who present their Thank-you cards. For instance, 10 cinema chains provide half-priced tickets, while Hospital Authority employees can enter a lottery.
Some companies offer an extra day off or benefits to employees who hold Thank-you cards.
