Woman loses $100,000 in Wong Tai Sin burglary

A 37-year-old woman has reported a burglary at her Wong Tai Sin housing estate flat where thieves stole nearly HK$100,000 in cash and jewelry.

Police received a report around 5pm Wednesday from the surnamed Liu woman who discovered the iron gate and main door of her Wang On House, Wang Tau Hom Estate residence had been forced open with signs of ransacking inside.

Preliminary checks revealed approximately HK$82,000 in cash and gold items worth about HK$14,000 missing, including necklaces, pendants, earrings and gold medals.

The case has been classified as burglary and assigned to Wong Tai Sin police district crime squad for investigation. No arrests have been made.
