Ahead of the opening of the 15th National Games, Hongkong Post has unveiled a new set of commemorative stamps for the mega sporting event, to be released on November 9.
Running from November 9 to 21, the Games mark the first time Hong Kong will co-host the National Games of China. The stamp collection features eight competition categories to be held in the city — including men’s U22 basketball, track cycling, fencing, golf, men’s handball, rugby sevens, triathlon, and beach volleyball — alongside a mass participation bowling event.
To commemorate the first-ever National Games jointly hosted by three regions, China Post, Hongkong Post, and Macao Post and Telecommunications will issue a collaborative souvenir pack.
The special edition, available on the opening day, will include a joint souvenir sheet featuring stamps from all three postal authorities.
From Thursday (Oct 22), official first-day covers will be available at all post offices and through Hongkong Post’s online platform ShopThruPost.
The special stamps and related products will go on sale starting November 9, both online and at five designated philatelic offices: the General Post Office, Tsim Sha Tsui, Tsuen Wan, Sha Tin Central, and Tuen Mun Central. They will be available at all post offices from November 10.
Serviced first-day covers bearing a complete set of four stamps, as well as the joint souvenir packs, will be sold exclusively at the five philatelic offices, with a purchase limit of five items per customer.
Special sales arrangements will be implemented on the launch day, with the five designated offices open from 9.30am to 5pm.
Hand-stamping services will also be provided for all official first-day covers, souvenir covers, and privately made covers bearing the “first day of issue” indication and a local address.
