Hong Kong has received the full list of athletes for the 15th National Games and is preparing special border arrangements to facilitate their entry, according to Yeung Tak-keung, head of the National Games Coordination Office.
To ensure smooth arrival procedures, Yeung said efforts are focused on coordinating athletes’ modes of entry, which may include air travel, high-speed rail, or land crossings.
“Once their arrival dates are confirmed, we will arrange special clearance channels to facilitate their entry, with volunteers ready to greet the athletes and assist with transport to hotels, training venues, and competition sites,” Yeung said.
Regarding the upcoming men’s individual road cycling event scheduled for November 8, Yeung highlighted that the route will span all three host cities, with the Hong Kong leg taking riders along Lantau Highway to Hong Kong Disneyland before returning to Zhuhai.
The event will cover a total distance of 230 kilometres, with 104 cyclists from 25 teams expected to take more than five hours to complete the course.
Yeung said temporary traffic arrangements will be implemented on the day of the race, including partial closures of the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge at certain times to minimise disruption.
The Hong Kong segment is expected to start at about 10.20am and conclude around 11.50am, lasting roughly an hour and a half. Yeung cautioned that traffic to the airport and Tung Chung area may be affected, with possible delays of up to 30 minutes.
He urged travellers to allow extra time for their journeys and to use train services where possible.
