Mainland man missing after hiking on Lamma Island, search operation ongoing

A mainland Chinese man has been missing for over a day after going hiking on Lamma Island on Sunday afternoon. Police received a report at approximately 1pm Monday after the man failed to return to his hotel.

According to the report, the man had stated he was going hiking on Lamma Island on Sunday afternoon before apparently getting lost and exhausting his phone battery, leading to loss of contact. His friend reported him missing when he failed to return by Monday afternoon.

Fire services, ambulance personnel, Civil Aid Service teams and police have gathered near the Lamma Power Station to conduct search operations. The Government Flying Service helicopter has been providing aerial support since the search began.

As of 1am Tuesday, the missing individual had not been located. Search efforts continue.
