During a second district visit on Saturday (Aug 30) aimed at gathering insights for the upcoming Policy Address, Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu had an engaging conversation about Mahjong with a senior resident in the Eastern District.
In a video shared on social media this morning, Lee sat alongside a senior, saying, "I'm really happy for you for being so energetic and vibrant at the age of 106." The conversation quickly turned to Mahjong rules, with the senior mentioning he tended to play the game with flowers and season tiles.
When Lee asked, "Did you play on the last tile?" the senior replied, "No."
As the discussion deepened, Lee joyfully praised the elder as a "pro," noting they could be a formidable opponent.
Known for his exceptional Mahjong skills, Lee has earned a reputation among his former colleagues in the police force, with sources indicating that competing against him can be a challenging experience.
Elderly praised the efforts of caring team
The city leader also visited the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals' Fong Shu Chuen Social Service Building, public housing estate, and social service facilities to gather insights on support for elderly residents.
At Oi Tung Estate in Shau Kei Wan, Lee met with two elderly women to learn about the assistance provided by the District Services and Community Care Teams.
The duo both expressed gratitude for the services, highlighting how the activities provided by the team have enhanced their quality of life.
