Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Rosanna Law Shuk-pui detailed on Wednesday that police proactively contacted the team of American YouTuber IShowSpeed to ensure public safety and order during his visit.
The influencer was swarmed by over a hundred fans at an MTR station while livestreaming in Hong Kong in early April, causing chaos, property damage, and prompting police intervention.
In response to lawmakers’ inquiries, the tourism chief stated that police would closely monitor similar situations in the future and flexibly deploy personnel to handle emergencies.

Separately, Law highlighted that the authorities have invited more than 650 influencers, media representatives, and industry partners to Hong Kong in the first quarter of this year.
She added that the Hong Kong Tourism Board collaborated with nearly 100 influencers and celebrities from various countries and regions during the Super March campaign.
The initiative reached an audience of over 50 million, including individuals from mainland, Taiwan, the UK, Australia, South Korea, Thailand, and Indonesia.
