Lunar New Year fairs across the city will open on Thursday as part of festive celebrations to welcome the Year of the Snake. Police said special traffic arrangements will be implemented in Causeway Bay and Tin Hau to facilitate the opening of the Victoria Park fair - the biggest one in town.
According to the police force, the section of Lockhart Road between Cannon Street and East Point Road; East Point Road; and Great George Street between East Point Road and Paterson Street, will be designated as pedestrian zones from tomorrow afternoon at 4 pm until midnight, as well as from Friday to next Monday, daily from noon to 3 am.
Some roads may also be subject to road closures, including Paterson Street; Great George Street; Sugar Street; Cleveland Street; Kingston Street; Northbound Gloucester Road between Causeway Road and Great George Street; Northbound Gloucester Road between Great George Street and Moreton Terrace flyover; and Southbound Gloucester Road between Causeway Road and Causeway Bay flyover.
Meanwhile, the metered parking spaces on Lau Li Street between Hing Fat Street and Ngan Mok Street will be suspended from 8 am to 12.01 am of the following day on January 23, and daily from 8 am to 3 am of the following day from January 24 to 27.
Members of the public are advised to use public transport to visit the above areas and exercise tolerance and patience, and to take heed of instructions of the Police on site.
