The Transport Department (TD) announced on Monday that the parking fees of 11 government public car parks under its management will be increased with effect from June 1.
The TD spokesman said that when adjusting parking fees for the 11 government public car parks, the TD has taken into account several factors, including the charges of nearby public car parks, public acceptability and the utilization of the government car parks.
The 11 car parks that will be affected by this adjustment are Kennedy Town Car Park, Rumsey Street Car Park, Star Ferry Car Park, City Hall Car Park, Tin Hau Car Park, Shau Kei Wan Car Park, Aberdeen Car Park, Sheung Fung Street Car Park, Wong Tai Sin Car Park, Kwai Fong Car Park, and Tsuen Wan Car Park.
For private cars and vans, the government is raising the hourly rate by HK$1, the day park rate by HK$10, and the night park rate by HK$5, with the monthly rate increasing by HK$150.
While coaches and goods vehicles will see their hourly rate increase by HK$1, night parking fees will increase by HK$5.
Motorcycles will see an increase of HK$2, HK$1 and HK$40 for the day park, night park and monthly park rates, respectively.
Taxis will only see an increase in monthly parking rates by HK$70.
More details can be found on the TD's website.
Notices will also be put inside the car parks in advance to inform motorists of the fee adjustments.
