At about midnight today, police received a report that the iron gate to the underground lobby of the Fortis Tower on Gloucester Road, Wan Chai, had been doused with red paint.
The police found a debt collection note posted on the outer wall threatening a person named Ben Lau to pay off a long-term debt quickly or face harsher actions.
After checking the security footage, two men in their 20s wearing black hats and masks were seen carrying cans of paint and committing the crime.
One person was filming, and the other was responsible for spraying the red paint, first towards the security camera, then towards the gate before fleeing.
Fortis Securities, which was mentioned in the debt collection note, currently does not have any office buildings or any property assets at the Fortis Tower involved.
It is suspected that the debtor "BEN LAU" used an old Fortis Securities card to borrow money from others, misleading loan sharks to the wrong place.
The police seized the aluminum cans for investigation.
