The section of carriageway concerned subsided with one traffic lane that was seriously damaged due to landslides during severe rainstorms on September 8 last year, leading to the full closure of traffic lanes for emergency repairs.
Upon completion of emergency repair works, one traffic lane was reopened on the night of September 9.
The department also stated that a bus trial run has been successfully conducted at the road section, and the two-lane traffic arrangement at Shek O Road was resumed today.
The department completed the emergency slope stabilization works necessary for reopening the other traffic lane, which included the installation of 31 mini piles of length ranging from about nine to 12 meters with concrete capping beams on top of them.
The HyD has also completed drainage improvement works at the road section concerned, including the provision of an additional drainage channel, improvement works on adjacent catchpits, and drainage clearance works to further strengthen the drainage capacity of the road concerned against inclement weather, thereby enhancing the safety of the carriageway.
