The government announced on Thursday to collaborate with the Guangdong government to launch more than 50 cross-boundary public services to facilitate citizens.
A public services thematic website, which allow residents and enterprises to access government services of Guangdong and Hong Kong at any time and place, was launched on the same day.
The first batch of over 50 cross-boundary public services covered areas from taxation, company registration, property and vehicle inquiry and registration, personal identification documents, and application for entry of talents, welfare, education, medical and health services.
"Hong Kong and Guangdong have started a new chapter of cooperation in the provision of government services," Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry Sun Dong said.
He added that the governments achieved the bilateral connection of public services between the two places after more than two years of efforts.
Sun said the iAM Smart services have also integrated with the services of the Unified Identity Authentication Platform of Guangdong Province, allowing Hong Kong residents to directly log in to the Guangdong government service website and mobile app.
He noted the government has established the iAM Smart service counters in Guangzhou and Shenzhen Qianhai to help citizens register for iAM Smart, while the cross-boundary public services kiosks will be set up in Hong Kong to facilitate public access to Guangdong services.
Sun and the deputy secretary general of the Guangdong province Xu Dianhui also witnessed the signing of the agreement to deepen the cooperation in government services between the two places.
Moreover, the SAR government plans to roll out self-service kiosks in Guangzhou by the first quarter of 2024 and gradually cover the nine cities in the Greater Bay Area.
