Hong Kong International Airport has won a top international award for its pioneering digital platform for tower and apron management.
The Digital Apron and Tower Management System (DATMS) won the Airports Council International's 2023 World–Amadeus Technology Innovation Awards for "Best Innovation in Airport Operations and Installations Management".
The award ceremony was held in Barcelona, Spain, on June 27.
Leveraging the latest digital video technology and integrating real-time video, flight information and surveillance data, DATMS provides enhanced views of all air and ground activities around the clock.
With over 240 camera sensors and 120 working positions, the DATMS has efficiently assisted air traffic control and airport operations in enhancing safety and efficiency under adverse weather conditions, including low-visibility situations in humid seasons since its phase 1 commissioning last July.
The ACI was established in 1991 to support the world's airports and promote excellence in the aviation industry. It has about 712 members in 71 countries from 1,925 airports at present.
