Health authorities have detected 49 preliminary positive cases at Chung Wo House in Chung On Estate in Ma On Shan after the building was locked down on Monday night over Covid-positive sewage samples.
Residents who tested negative were allowed to leave the building in phases starting at 10am on Tuesday.
Some 1,170 residents there had undergone testing last night, and 49 among them tested preliminary positive while the test results for four returned indeterminate.
The government also sent staffers to visit some 370 households door-to-door, of which 21 didn't answer. The government said they would take follow-up actions.
Authorities reminded people who had been to the Ma On Shan building for more than two hours between February 8 and Monday to undergo compulsory testing by tomorrow (Wednesday).
Vaccinated citizens and those who tested negative must also take the tests as a mutant strain is involved.
