Following the change, commuteres will be able to pay for their train rides with those apps, in addition to the existing options of MTR Mobile and Alipay HK.
Users of these four apps will be able to use QR code tickets to go through entry or exit gates wrapped with purple stickers.
Jeny Yeung, MTR’s Hong Kong transport services director, said the operations of QR code tickets have been smooth, and the corporation is delighted to enhance the service with additional e-payment options, giving flexibility and convenience in smart mobility.
On the other hand, Alipay HK has announced that its users can use the QR code of EasyGo – an electronic payment service for public transport under its name – to pay the fare of all franchised buses.
New Lantao Bus, which runs bus routes on Lantau Island, will support EasyGo starting Tuesday. All 4,000 buses under KMB’s fleet were installed with QR code scanners on Sunday.
