Carrie Lam designated three more security law judges to handle Jimmy Lai case

Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheung Yuet-ngor has today designated Joseph Paul Fok, Permanent Judge, and two Non-Permanent Judges, Patrick Chan Siu-oi and Frank Stock to handle cases concerning offense endangering national security.

Sources told Sing Tao Daily, The Standard's sister newspaper, that the three judges will join Chief Justice Andrew Cheung Kui-nung and Permanent Judge Roberto Ribeiro to hear Jimmy Lai Chee-ying’s case next Monday.

On December 31, a three-judge panel of the Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal reversed an order of the High Court that had granted Lai bail subject to extreme restrictions on his freedom.

Hong Kong’s justice department had since sought leave to appeal against the decision, having the appeal being heard next Monday.
