HSI rallies 405 points to conclude Monday's early trading session, SMIC up 7 percent

Hong Kong stocks rose by Monday's midday break.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index increased 405 points, or 1.61 percent, to 25,521 points, bringing the half-day market turnover to HK$118 billion.

The Hang Seng Tech Index gained 2.01 percent to 4,802 points, with SenseTime (0020) and SMIC (0981) surging 10.68 percent and 7.27 percent, respectively.

In the mainland, the Shanghai Stock Exchange Composite Index went up by 33 points, or 0.84 percent, to 3,960 points, and the Shenzhen Stock Exchange Composite Index rose 1.26 percent to 14,534 points.
