Hang Seng Index plunges to near 23,000 points in early trading on Thursday

The Hang Seng Index plunged to nearly 23,000 points in the early morning trading session on Thursday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index sank by 343 points, or 1.5 percent to 23,069 points. 

The Hang Seng Tech Index lost by 2 percent to around 4,386 points.
