Emperor Cinemas of Emperor Culture (0491) has partnered with Swire Properties (1972) to expand with a new cinema, expected to open in 2027 in Taikoo Place Beijing.
This move marks the third cinema operated by Emperor Cinemas in Beijing, after it joined the Taikoo Li Sanlitun project last year.
Taikoo Place Beijing comprises the currently operational INDIGO mixed-use development and its phase two expansion, being the project that also marked the debut of the Taikoo Place brand in mainland China.
Located close to the 798 Art District and with direct metro connections, INDIGO Beijing is home to a vibrant community where people work, live, and play, the company said.
The new Emperor Cinema will feature eight screens, including one VIP hall, and offer over 1,100 seats in total.
Vice chairman Alex Yeung Ching-loong of Emperor Group believed that the new opening would generate a powerful three-location synergy when combined with the other two cinemas in Beijing's central business district, bolstering its strategic network presence.
As the two existing cinemas are favorites among film studios, serving as key platforms for the launches and promotions of Chinese and Hollywood movies, the new cinema is expected to host more large-scale premieres and exclusive cultural events, empowering the growth of the cultural industry in Beijing and nationwide, he added.
