HSBC (0005) said its full-time headcount in Hong Kong declined over 4 percent in the first half of 2025 to 33,144 employees, down by 1,434 from the end of last year.
The figure was also about 5 percent lower than the 34,836 recorded a year earlier.
The lender reported a pre-tax profit of US$4.67 billion (HK$36.43 billion) from its Hong Kong operations during the period, down by more than 1 percent from a year earlier. Revenue rose about 6 percent to US$7.85 billion, according to an exchange filing on Wednesday.
Globally, HSBC employed 211,130 full-time staff as of the end of June, a decline of 174 from December and 2,848 fewer than a year ago, representing a 1.3 percent year-on-year drop.
