China’s carriers have canceled 1,900 flights to Japan scheduled in December following a government-issued travel risk advisory, accounting for more than 40 percent of the flights planned initially.
According to CCTV News, the number of travelers to Japan has dropped sharply since November 15. Passenger volume on November 25 was around 23 percent lower than on November 15.
Separately, president of the Kansai Airports Yoshiyuki Yamaya said that the number of flights between Kansai Airport and China in the second week of December will be about 34 percent lower than expected due to Chinese travelers avoiding trips to Japan.
He added that the outlook remains uncertain and hoped that flight numbers can be restored as soon as possible.
