A breakfast shop in Hubei province is under investigation after a cat was filmed eating meat filling intended for buns and dumplings, with staff continuing to use the contaminated ingredients.
The incident occurred on October 14 in Yichang's Yiling District, where witnesses reported a cat climbing onto a table and chewing meat filling. Although staff removed the filling after discovery, they proceeded to use it for food preparation, raising hygiene concerns.
The shop claimed the cat belonged to neighboring premises and entered due to familiarity with the environment, adding they would enhance safety measures during busy periods. Yiling District market regulatory authorities have received the report and will dispatch inspectors to investigate.
