Luo Fuli, often dubbed the "AI prodigy" due to her remarkable expertise in artificial intelligence, has shared on social media her desire to concentrate on research while keeping a low profile.
In a WeChat moment post on Tuesday (Feb 18), the 29-year-old former DeepSeek employee expressed her concerns about the overwhelming nature of excessive praise.
She pointed out that such accolades often come with immense pressure, leaving her helpless amidst the social media hype. Luo emphasized that this level of attention could further interfere with her work, making it even more challenging to focus.
Luo also urged the media outlet to refrain from disturbing her family, friends and former school teachers for the internet traffic, emphasizing her desire to focus on doing the "right thing."
Despite not disclosing the name of her new company, news of her starting a new job became a hot topic on Weibo the same day as her relative's disclosure.
It is reported that Luo's husband has been busy inventing new products during the Lunar New Year, noting the couple did not return home for the celebration.
The relative also noted that her husband shares similar research interests, albeit in different subfields.
Luo joined High-Flyer in 2022 and then later moved to DeepSeek as a deep learning researcher in the global AI landscape, contributing to the development of the DeepSeek-V2.
Meanwhile, rumors have circulated that the founder of Xiaomi, Lei Jun, offered her an annual compensation package of 10 million yuan, but the company has not yet provided an official response.
Luo was born in Yibin, Sichuan in 1995 and spent her childhood learning in a community library.
Her journey in the computer field began after enrolling at Beijing Normal University, where she established her career path.
After finishing her master's degree at Peking University, Luo joined Alibaba's Damo Academy to conduct research related to pre-trained language models.
