HK logs hottest day of the year so far on Tue

The Observatory recorded the highest temperature so far this year on Tuesday, advising the public to beware of heat stroke and drink more water.

The weather watchdog noted a maximum temperature of 32.1 degrees was logged at around 12.45pm. It also issued a "Very Hot Weather Warning" at 1.45 pm.

Temperatures over many places rose to about 33 degrees in the afternoon, the Observatory noted, with Sheung Shui logging the highest 35.1 degrees.

Meanwhile, visibility is expected to remain relatively low in some areas due to the influence of a dry continental airstream as well as sand and dust weather.

It is also forecast that the weather will be relatively humid over the region, with a southerly airstream affecting the coastal areas gradually in the latter part of this week.

According to a nine-day weather forecast, the highest temperature will continue to rise to 28 degrees on Saturday (Apr 19), with a few showers anticipated.
