Flocks of visitors head to Che Kung Temple for good fortune

Many devotees were seen on Friday, the third day of the Lunar New Year, piling into the Che Kung Temple in Sha Tin to pray for good luck and prosperity in the Year of the Snake, with lines extending up to the pedestrian tunnel opposite the temple after 9 am.

Worshippers sought for health, peace, and a prosperous economy, and many were pleased with their fortune sticks, which indicated good health and family safety. Some brought children to experience the culture.

A devotee, attending for over 40 years, sought 10 fortune sticks for his family.

A stall owner reported a 10 percent increase in foot traffic compared to last year, noting the popularity of windmills. However, another saw average business with fewer visitors.

Commissioner of Police Raymond Siu Chak-yee noted that order was maintained despite the large crowd during his visit. He stayed for about 15 minutes, wishing the public prosperity and success.
